Rovers' 2-0 defeat at local rivals Scunthorpe United has supposedly left one angry betting fan tearing up his slip after Darren Ferguson's side were the only team to let them down on a six team accumulator bet.

According to a photo shared on social media, the fan had staked £5 on six separate teams from last night's fixtures to win with both teams scoring - and only Rovers proved to be the party-poopers - costing the punter a £36,616 payout.

Huddersfield, Burnley Dumbarton, Bristol Rovers and Aberdeen all won while respective opponents Reading, Fulham, Alloa, AFC Wimbledon and Partick all found the back of the net to set up the mouthwatering windfall.

But misfiring Rovers - who failed to land a single shot on target during last night's game at Glanford Park - ruined the bet, costing the punter a bumper payout.

The defeat, Rovers tenth game in a row without a win, leaves them locked in a relegation dogfight at the bottom of League One.

Blake Pidcock, who shared the photo of the bet on Facebook said: "If you think we hate our team right now, think how this guy f****** feels."

Andy Ward, another fan wrote: "We couldn't even lose gallantly for him!"

It is not clear where the punter hails from.
