Doncaster Rovers: Chaplow looks to the positives

Rovers were far from their best during Saturday’s goalless draw at Fleetwood Town but held on for a point to take their run of league form to just one defeat in nine.

While disappointed with the performance and failure to pick up the win, Chaplow felt there were positives to take from the game.

“I don’t think we really got going and sometimes that just happens in football,” Chaplow said.

“But those are the games where we’ve got to be able to grind out and get the results is we want to be a successful team.

“We’re looking to try to get maximum points in as many games as we can between now and the end of the season.

“We wanted to do that at Fleetwood but unfortunately it just slipped out of our grasp.

“It’s still a point on the board and it keeps us going in terms of form.

“But the lads are disappointed, not just with the fact we didn’t get the three points but also that we probably didn’t implement the game plan we came to do.

“We’ll be looking at the ways we can improve.

“Ultimately if we tidy up with the ball, that will be beneficial to us for the next game.”

Chaplow impressed after coming off the bench to replace the injured Conor Grant just 17 minutes into the game, emerging as Rovers’ biggest threat.

He said: “I was happy to get on the pitch today but hopefully Conor is not too badly injured.

“If I can come on and add to the group like I did, that’s all I can do from my side.

“Hopefully I can contribute something if called upon on Tuesday night against Port Vale.”
