Doncaster Rovers: Announcement close on new boss
Doncaster Rovers are poised to unveil their next manager after opening talks over terms with their preferred candidate on Tuesday.
The Rovers board completed the second stage of interviews on Monday.
Stuart McCall, Grant McCann and Gary Caldwell were all given second interviews at an out-of-town venue.
After finalising their choice on Tuesday morning, Rovers began negotiations with the prospective new manager.
And they are set to announce the identity of the new boss over the next two days.
Speculation was rife on Tuesday that former Peterborough United boss McCann was set to be handed the reins at the Keepmoat.
And McCann was backed into a 1/20 shot with bookmakers.
An announcement could come as soon as Wednesday with the new manager set to meet the press on Thursday if negotiations progress as planned.
The Rovers hierarchy will be keen to have the new man in place in time to meet with the squad ahead of departure for the scheduled training camp in La Manga in Spain on Monday.
Rovers will return from the trip to face Alfreton Town in their first friendly on Saturday week.
It is understood that the candidate set for an initial interview on Monday alongside the second interviews was not spoken to as planned.
