Doncaster Racecourse unveils link-up with East Midlands Airport for Leger
This year marks the 250th anniversary of the race
Doncaster Racecourse has announced it is teaming up with East Midlands Airport for the 250th anniversary of the St Leger.
Town Moor bosses have announced the deal as the course’s official travel partner just days before the four day festival begins on September 10.
A spokesperson said: “We’re delighted to welcome East Midlands Airport as our official travel partner for the 250th Betfred St Leger.
“As we celebrate this historic milestone, we’re proud to be partnering with East Midlands Airport to help mark 250 years of one of the most iconic events in British racing.
“Here’s to an unforgettable celebration, welcoming racegoers from near and far to Doncaster for the world’s oldest Classic.”
The announcement is likely to upset bosses at Doncaster Sheffield Airport as the base gears up for re-opening.
Neither City of Doncaster Council or Doncaster Sheffield Airport has publicly commented on the announcement, with East Midlands Airport seen as one of the big rivals to DSA in the region.
