Doncaster primary school children take over radio station

Year Six pupils from Hatchell Wood Primary Academy celebrated the end of their SATS week in unforgettable style after taking over the opening section of Spectrum House Show with global DJ and presenter Johnny Dangerous.

Broadcasting on Sine FM, the students reached listeners across Yorkshire with their confidence, enthusiasm and energy on the airwaves.

Following a demanding week of exams, the opportunity to present on the show was the perfect reward for the pupils, giving them the opportunity to experience not only how to put a radio show together, but to be on it too.

The students learned about presenting, music selection and live broadcasting while also getting hands-on experience speaking whilst making the show.

Introducing tracks, the pupils embraced the experience with excitement and quickly became the stars of the show.

The session was such an eye-opening experience that it has even inspired one or two of the students to consider becoming DJs in the future. The students loved every minute of their radio debut.

The takeover proved such a huge experience that the pupils will now return during the summer holidays for an extended two-hour special.

Johnny Dangerous described the students as “natural broadcasters” who brought incredible energy and excitement to the Spectrum House Show.

Listeners can tune into the Spectrum House Show on Thursday May 21 on Sine FM across Doncaster on 102.6FM, on DAB and via the online player at www.sinefm.com.
