“I was delighted to be able to talk to apprentices at Doncaster College and discuss how government policies impact all areas of our lives, why the National Minimum Wage is important and how conflicts in Ukraine and Iran impact prices of goods in the UK.

“I also spoke about how the Government is helping young people to find employment, through the Youth Jobs Guarantee, which provides financial support to employers to encourage the recruitment of young people”

Students quizzed the MP on matters including why car insurance is so expensive for young people, whether the number of subscriptions people need to watch sport can be reduced, and if statutory maternity pay can be increased.

Speaking afterwards, Mr Windass said: “Hearing Sally speak from first-hand experience of how government policies impact businesses was so insightful. The DN Colleges Group is the fifth largest Further Education provider of apprenticeships in England, with over 2,400 apprentices and working with 1,000 employers. For our apprentices, Sally’s talk will be really helpful for their studies and their wider work in industry.”
