Doncaster motorway partially re-opens after serious overnight collision
The motorway had been closed since last night
A Doncaster motorway has partially re-opened after a horror road smash which has kept it shut for most of the day.
The M180 westbound has reopened between J2 and J5 of the M18 following the collision that occurred last night.
A spokesperson for National Highways Yorkshire said: “Lanes two and three of three remain closed on the M180 west after J1 leading to the roundabout, with the southern quadrant of the roundabout remaining closed for ongoing barrier repairs.
“Traffic is only able to join the M18 south from the M180 westbound fast slip road due to the closure.
“Traffic wishing to travel M18 north is advised to exit the M18 at J4 and re-join the northbound carriageway.
“There are currently delays of 20 minutes on approach with two miles of congestion.”
Emergency services were called to the M180 at its intersection with the M18 near Thorne at around midnight.
Photos from the scene appear to show a vehicle ablaze in woodland alongside the intersection.
