On Sunday 1February, a journey began with a simple but powerful goal - to make a positive difference in Edlington.
What started as a litter-picking group has grown into something much bigger — a movement focused on bringing people together, restoring community pride, and creating a stronger, more connected village.
Every Sunday, dedicated volunteers give up their time to help improve the local area under the banner Friends of Edlington.
Armed with litter pickers, bags, and plenty of enthusiasm, they work tirelessly to keep Edlington clean and welcoming.
But the impact goes far beyond removing rubbish from streets and green spaces.
The group has become a place where neighbours meet, friendships are formed and community spirit is strengthened.
People from all walks of life come together with a shared purpose: to make Edlington a better place for everyone.
Spokepserson David Jones said: “The results are clear to see. Streets are cleaner, public spaces are more inviting, and there is a growing sense of pride throughout the village.
“Residents are noticing the difference, and the positive changes continue to inspire more people to get involved.
“The success of the initiative proves that when a community works together, great things can happen.
“Through commitment, teamwork, and a genuine care for their village, these volunteers are helping to shape a brighter future for Edlington.
“The village is making huge strides, and every Sunday brings another opportunity to build on that progress.
“What began as a litter-picking group has become a symbol of community action, showing that even small efforts can create lasting change.
“As the journey continues, the volunteers remain committed to their mission — not only to keep Edlington clean, but to bring people together and strengthen the heart of the community.”
