Doncaster housing service under investigation after worker breaks ribs following scaffolding fall

St Leger Homes, an 'arms length management organisation' working with Doncaster Council, is being investigated after an employee was injured on June 22 while working on a 'low-rise bungalow' scheme in Mexborough. 

If taken to court by the Health and Safety Executive, the firm could be prosecuted in court and face a hefty fine. 

A strategic risk management report published by Doncaster Council originally outlined that the local authority health and safety team would 'advise and support' St Leger Homes through the investigation to 'ensure appropriate actions' are taken to 'mitigate risk'.

It added an 'initial site visit to the scene of the accident has been carried out' and an 'independent scaffold specialist and legal advice' has been provided.

But the report has since been redacted and now reads: "There has been a fall from height incident and an investigation is underway."

Paul Tanney, chief executive of St Leger Homes, said: 'A fall from height incident occurred in June 2018 which resulted in a worker sustaining fractured ribs.

"The incident was reported to the Health and Safety Executive and is being investigated in line with their usual procedures and St Leger Homes is fully cooperating with this process. Given that there is an ongoing regulatory investigation it would be inappropriate for us to comment further.'
