Doncaster health workers' big boost for Alzheimer's Society

A team of Doncaster health workers have raised £326 for charity by holding a cup cake day.

The team, which includes nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and rehabilitation assistants, work on Hazel Ward at Tickhill Road Hospital, Balby – run by Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH).

The team held a cup cake day for the Alzheimer’s Society and this week handed over the money they had raised.

Organised by Kate Priestley and Laura Stephenson, both rehabilitation assistants, the whole team supported the event, with many baking some fantastic cakes and buns to sell.

Kate said: “It was a great day and we are so proud of how much we have raised as a team.”

Zoe Barraclough, of the Alzheimer’s Society, who picked up the cheque, said: “I’m so pleased to accept this donation. There are currently over 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK and this is set to rise to over 1 million by 2021. Alzheimer’s Society supports people living with dementia and their carers through local services and funding vital research.
