Doncaster family's hospital fundraiser after son suffered serious burns
The public are being invited to contribute to a fundraiser for a hospital which treated a little Doncaster boy who suffered serious burns.
The grateful family of a Doncaster youngster who suffered serious burns have launched a fundraiser for the hospital which treated him.
Sammy Walton was seriously scalded in December last year, requiring treatment and a skin graft which kept him in Sheffield Children’s Hospital over Christmas.
While he is recovering, he is still undergoing treatment and his mum Laura and dad Mick have launched a fundraising campaign for the hospital.
She said: “We would like to give something back as a massive thank you for how the teams in the intensive care unit, burns unit and theatres all looked after Sammy over Christmas.
“He was scolded on 13 December and had to be sedated for a few days and then undergo several trips to theatre before a skin graft on his shoulder just before the New Year.
After an accident at home, where he suffered burns to his face and shoulders, Sammy was taken from DRI where medics at Sheffield confirmed 13% burns.
She added: “The care he received in both the intensive care and burns units was fantastic.
“We will continue to visit the hospital for appointments for the next couple of years, with constant scar after care.
“It was Christmas while we were there and Sammy was given gifts from Santa and alsovisited by members of Sheffield United and the Sheffield Steelers.
The family are also running a raffle and are also keen to hear from anyone with any other fundraising ideas for the hospital.
