Dan Evans set out on the gruelling 874 mile route from Cornwall on June 1 and reached his destination in the north of Scotland yesterday, raising nearly £2,900 for Cancer Research UK along the way.

He said: “The money I raise will help fund life-saving research and to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.

“I lost my gran, she was 87, she was amazing and died unfortunately with cancer. She was my heart and rock. Looked after me when I was only a bairn. And just glad I could give something back to her whilst looking after her when she needed me.”

He also completed the walk in aid of colleague Antony Copley, who has also been diagnosed with cancer.
