Cards are beoing sought from across the globe

A Doncaster care home is seeking cards from across the world for a resident celebrating her 100th birthday.

The Beeches in Armthorpe wants as many greeting cards as possible for the resident, named only as Annie, and has launched an appeal for members of the public to get involved.

A spokesperson said: “Can you help us make Annie’s 100th birthday one to remember?

“This November, our lovely Annie will celebrate a very special milestone – her 100th birthday!

“One hundred years of life, memories, people, places and stories.

“We think that deserves rather a lot of birthday cards.

“So we’re asking our friends, families, local community – and anyone further afield who would like to join in – to send Annie a birthday card.

“We’d absolutely love to see just how far they can travel from - Doncaster, Yorkshire, Scotland, Australia - wherever you are, there’s room in Annie’s birthday postbag.

“If you have children or grandchildren, perhaps they could make one.

“If you’re part of a school, community group, business, care home or organisation, we’d love you to get involved too.

“Let’s see if we can completely fill Annie’s mailbox with birthday wishes.”

Please send cards to: Annie, The Beeches Residential Home, Beech Road, Armthorpe, Doncaster, DN3 2DZ.

The spokesperson added: “We’ll keep you updated on how many arrive and, of course, share some of the celebrations when Annie turns the magnificent 100.”
