Doncaster Business for the Community’s (DB4C) inaugural 11-a-sde football challenge for business owners will be played on Friday, May 25.

For the first time in the event’s history the match will be played under floodlights - and will also launch a first for Club Doncaster.

Shaun Lockwood, head of marketing and communications at Club Doncaster, said: “The Doncaster Businesses for the Community match will kick off our four day Festival of Sport at Keepmoat Stadium, which will include a large junior tournament, women’s football and our inaugural Club Doncaster Foundation Awards.

“Playing on the pitch at Keepmoat Stadium is a fantastic experience and having this match under floodlights will make the occasion even better.

“I’m sure the match will be a great start to a fantastic festival of football and sport.”

DB4C, a charitable trust formed last year by representatives of local businesses, has already successfully raised funds via a charity cricket match and an inter-company five-a-side challenge.

Players who register for £250 will get 12 weeks training, full personalised kit to keep, the matchday experience and a ticket for the Player of the Season Dinner to be hosted by match sponsors The Crown Hotel Bawtry.

DB4C trustee Anthony Temperton said: “This is a truly ground breaking event and a great partnership with Doncaster Rovers and Club Doncaster Foundation.

“Those who sign up will have the opportunity of playing in a competitive match at the stadium whilst doing their bit for charity in the local community.

“At DB4C we are not just about supporting local causes and charities, we are also about improving the health and wellbeing of business employers and their staff throughout the Doncaster area and this is an excellent example of our work.”

“Having the opportunity to play on the same pitch used by players from Doncaster Rovers, the Dons and the Belles is a unique experience, which will only be enhanced by playing the game under floodlights with your family and friends watching.”
