Doncaster bus operator welcomes launch of government scheme to give under-16s free travel in August
Children aged from five to 15 can travel with Stagecoach for free all of August
After its launch on August 1, a major Doncaster bus operator has welcomed a new scheme that sees children under-16 travel for free on buses, across the region, throughout the month.
As part of the government’s Great British Summer Savings Scheme, children aged from five to 15 can travel with Stagecoach for free all of August, with only a few special services exempt.
Children under five years old can travel for free all year round.
John Young, Commerial Director of Stagecoach Yorkshire, said: “We are very proud to be part of the Great British Summer Savings Scheme – my team wake up every day wanting to help our customers get where they want and need to go, from the Presentation Team who make sure that everything is looking as good as it should, to our engineers, who work so hard to provide very smooth and reliable services, and our drivers, who offer a friendly face to passengers.
“So, it is wonderful that even more young people and families will now be able to make the most of their efforts!
“The bus is the best way to get where you are going – whether that is to meet friends and family, head out to the shops or attractions, or get to work – very often, people say that the bus journey is a really exciting part of a great day out!
“So, now you can leave the car at home, avoid the traffic jams, the stress and the cost of parking, and take advantage of this scheme, throughout August. And, don’t forget that Adult Single fares are capped at just £3.”
