Doncaster-born Danny Rose has been named in England's 23-man World Cup squad for Russia 2018.

The Tottenham Hotspur defender will battle it out with Manchester United’s Ashley Young and Manchester City’s Fabian Delph for the left wing back role.

Rose, 27, has made just four Premier League starts for Tottenham Hotspur since the turn of the year following the reocurrence of a knee injury.

But boss Gareth Southgate gave the former Danum School pupil the nod over Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand - and Rose has said that suggestions of him being an injury prone player are “nonsense”.

Rose made his senior England debut against Germany in 2016.

He also represented Great Britain at the 2012 London Olympics.
