Sargents Bakeries is set for a bumper the UK’s fifth-largest supermarket’s festive range of mince pies, which will include frangipanes and flavoured crumble varieties.

Aldi said the successful partnership has helped the South Yorkshire business grow from having an annual turnover of £2 million to £8 million, allowing it to invest £500,000 in a new production line and nearly double the work shifts available to its 200 staff members.

Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi, said: “Whether it’s turkeys, mince pies or Christmas puddings, festive food plays such a huge part in our celebrations. Christmas is the perfect time for us to show the amazing work that local suppliers do across the UK to provide our customers with the best quality products at the best possible price.
