Doncaster actor Brian Blessed pays tribute to Alan Rickman

Dearne born actor Brian Blessed has taken to Twitter following the death of Alan Rickman who has died aged 69 after suffering with cancer.

Booming voiced Brian worked with Alan Rickman on the Hollywood blockbuster Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves in 1991.

He tweeted: “Alan Rickman was a joy to work with on Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, a riviting and magnificent actor. RIP.”

Brian Blessed played the father of Robin Hood, in the film that saw Alan take on the part of Sheriff of Nottingham, one of the most infamous villains of all time.

Alan Rickman who died this morning following a private battle with cancer became known as one of Hollywood’s best villains.

His most famous villainous roles include Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter franchise and Hans Gruber in Die Hard.
