Doctor dons running shoes for cancer marathon

An Isle GP will join runners in Clumber Park next month in a bid to help cancer sufferers.

Epworth-based Dr Richard Falk, 53, will run the Trailblazer Clumber Park Half Marathon on June 27 to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. Dr Falk has run a number of half marathons in the past but this will be his first sponsored run for over five years. He chose the charity in memory of his father Lawrence who died from cancer in his early 60s. He was also motivated to fundraise because as a local GP at South Axholme Practice his working life brings him into daily contact with cancer patients.

“Training is going well and I’m looking forward to the challenge,” he said.

Anyone wishing to sponsor him for the run can do so at any of the South Axholme Practice surgeries or online at http://www.justgiving.com/owner-email/pleasesponsor/Richard-Falk1
