Having a designated neighbourhood area is the first stage in developing a formal Neighbourhood Plan. Neighbourhood Plans helps communities shape how development will look in their area.
A Neighbourhood Plan cannot block development, but it can be used to influence the type, design, location and mix of any new development. The Neighbourhood Plan would eventually form part of Rotherham’s Local Plan and be used in deciding planning applications in the area.

Dinnington St John’s Town Council will lead on the preparation of the Dinnington Neighbourhood Plan. Chairman, David Smith, said: “Its great news that the proposal has been agreed and we will now be talking to local people to get their views on how to take it forward.”
