Wanted man caught by police cycling on hard shoulder of motorway near Doncaster

A man wanted by the police was caught after he was found cycling along the hard shoulder of a motorway near Doncaster.

The man was wanted by officers after being recalled to prison to finish a sentence.

But he was caught after being spotted cycling along a stretch of the A1M while pulling a trailer displaying a sign saying ‘heading to Doreset. Can anyone help’.

He was arrested at the scene and returned to prison after questioning.

South Yorkshire Police said: “If you are wanted on a recall to prison warrant, maybe consider not drawing quite so much attention to yourself by cycling on the hard shoulder of the A1M with a trailer advertising where you are going to and telling cops and Highways you will ‘carry on regardless’.

"Life lesson learnt the hard way, one off to our cells and then back to prison.”
