Two men arrested after man suffers head injuries in Doncaster brawl

Two men have been arrested after a man suffered serious head injuries in a town centre brawl.

Officers were alerted to reports of a fight between a group of men in Waterdale last Friday morning.

The altercation is believed to have started in nearby Wood Street at around 10.40am.

A 42-year-old man suffered head injuries and was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary for treatment. He has since been discharged.

The two other men, aged 35 and 39, were both arrested on suspicion of robbery and Section 47 Assault and have since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

One eyewitness said the fight had started over a bottle of Lambrini, with one of the group using the bottle as a weapon in the attack.

The victim is understood to have fled along Wood Street and Waterdale to the rear of The Harewood pub and restaurant to take refuge and where a number of police vehicles were seen throughout Friday morning.
