An investigation was launched yesterday after a two-year-old Doncaster boy died after going into cardiac arrest a house in Adwick, Doncaster, the day before.

Paramedics were called to a house in Bosworth Road and the youngster was taken to hospital but could not be saved and a murder probe was launched.

A man, aged 36 and a woman, 32, both from Adwick, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody this morning.

A post mortem examination was due to have been carried out last night but the results have not yet been disclosed.

The house where the baby fell ill was cordoned off yesterday while officers and forensics experts examined the property.

Meanwhile, South Yorkshire detectives are also investigating a murder in Sheffield on New Year’s Day.

Isaiah Usen-Satchell, 18, was stabbed to death when violence flared on St Aidan's Road, Norfolk Park, in the early hours.

Five Rotherham men, aged between 18 and 27, were arrested over the murder before being released under investigation.

South Yorkshire Police said officers were deployed to Norfolk Park following reports of a fight between a group of men.

Isaiah, from Norfolk Park, was studying business at Leeds Trinity University and had returned home for Christmas when he was killed.
