Three arrests after drink-drive hit and run car smash, assault and drugs and knife find

Three people were arrested after violence flared at the scene of a Doncaster hit and run, drink drive smash which saw one driver flee the scene and a weapon and drugs found.

Chaos and drama unfolded in the streets of Intake on Friday afternoon after reports of a two vehicle collision at the junction of Shaftesbury Avenue and Tudor Road.

A number of witnesses reported seeing the occupants of the vehicles engaged in violence while others reported seeing a number of people pinned to the ground by police officers following the incident.

Police were called at about 1.50pm after witnesses reported seeing one of the vehicles, a Seat, leaving the scene.

Officers attended and arrested two men in their 30s from Doncaster, one on suspicion of driving while over the prescribed limit for alcohol, and the other was arrested on suspicion of driving while over the prescribed limit for alcohol and possession of a Class A drug.

Both have since been bailed as investigations continue.

The other vehicle involved, a silver Volkswagen Golf S TSI which had previously been reported stolen, was left at the scene. The occupants had fled.

Witnesses reported seeing the occupants of the Golf flee after assaulting the driver of the Seat.

An 18-year-old man from Doncaster was arrested on suspicion of common assault, possession of a bladed article, possession of class B drugs and burglary dwelling. He has also been bailed as enquiries continue.
