Dubbed 'Mad Friday,' tomorrow night (December 18) is expected to be one of the busiest nights of the year for South Yorkshire's pubs, clubs and restaurants.

Last year police were called out to incidents including a man armed with a machete in Sheffield, a man passed out in the street in Doncaster and a drunk woman who abused a taxi driver after vomiting and being involved in a pub fight.

Police cells across all of South Yorkshire's stations were also 'approaching capacity' as the night drew to a close.

This year, the police are set to keep the public informed of some of crime reports they receive on their 101 number between 3pm and midnight tomorrow, via their Twitter account.

A South Yorkshire police spokesman said: "Tomorrow is one of the busiest nights of the year. From 3pm until midnight we'll be tweeting some of the calls we get into 101. #NoRegrets"
