On Tuesday May 14 at around 8.30pm, Doncaster East Neighbouhood Policing Team officers were patrolling the Edenthorpe and Kirk Sandall area.

Whilst travelling along Doncaster Road they saw a silver BMW being driven by a male, however on checking the vehicle only a female was named on the insurance.

The vehicle was stopped and the male explained it was his partner’s vehicle. Unfortunately the driver did not have his own policy of motor insurance, so was driving the vehicle illegally.

The driver was issued with a traffic offence report and will likely receive six points and a fine.

Approximately 30 minutes later, the officers then saw a blue Toyota Auris which was travelling along Thorne Road in Edenthorpe. Once again, after a few checks it was found the male driver did not have insurance. The vehicle was seized and he too will be looking at six points and a fine.

Be aware, if you drive a vehicle on a road without a valid motor insurance policy, the vehicle will be seized and you could be facing a court appearance.
