Raid unearths secret cannabis farm near Doncaster police station

A morning raid unearthed a secret drugs cultivation set up close to Doncaster police station.

Officers went into the terraced house on Apley Road, near the town centre, at 9.30am after obtaining a warrant from Doncaster magistrates.

The location of the house was only around 250m from Doncaster Police Station, on College Road, as the crow flies, and investigations are ongoing.

A police scene of crimes investigation van was parked outside the property yesterday, along with a marked patrol car, with officers moving in an out of the house. Northern Powergrid are carrying out works on the elecricity supply in front of the property.

In a statement, South Yorkshire Police said officers attended an address on Apley Road to execute a warrant at around 9.30am on December 15.

They added: “On gaining entry to the address they discovered a cannabis set up. Between 150 and 200 plants have been recovered.

“No arrests have been made. Enquiries are ongoing to find those responsible.”
