On November 4, a large number of youths gathered near Parkway South, Wheatley, letting off fireworks aimed at nearby flats.

They also directed them at officers who attended. This is totally inexcusable. Several involved have been identified and will be visited.

As I write, we have just entered into another lockdown period. I urge readers to act responsibly by adhering to the new laws. We will take positive action against anyone breaking the restrictions. Doncaster has one of the highest infection rates nationally.

We have continued with business as usual. This included the recovery of over 1,000 Cannabis plants from properties on Balby Road, Market Road, Beckett Road, Cross Bank, Littlemoor Lane and Lowther Road. Three people at different addresses were arrested and charged.

On Friday October 16 officers raided a house on Durham Road, Wheatley and seized a significant amount of class A drugs. Two people were arrested. Similarly, a house on Symes Gardens, Cantley was raided on October 27. Four people were arrested and drugs recovered.

We increased patrols in Balby on Sunday November 1 – resulting in a man being arrested for theft, and another for drink driving and possession of drugs with intent to supply. A third man was arrested for drink driving, with no driving licence or insurance.

In the early hours of November 5, a break-in at a bookmakers on Balby Road was reported. The suspect fled, but we chased him and arrested him a short time later. He had been wanted for some time. He was arrested for this burglary, a previous one and robbery. He was also wanted on a recall to prison.

Finally, we attended a serious crash on Thorne Road’s junction with Avenue Road at 8pm on November 4. One of four vehicles involved was a blue BMW, travelling towards town. If you saw it travelling at speed, together with a white VW Tiguan before the accident, contact us via 101 and quoting incident 885 of November. 4

If you have information about drug crime call 101 or Crimestoppers via on 0800 555 111.
