Police hunt three gunmen after shots fired at house in latest Doncaster shooting

Police are hunting a trio of gunmen who opened fire on a Doncaster house this morning.

Officers are currently at the scene in Barnby Dun Road where part of the street and a house have been sealed off.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: Shortly before 11am today, it is reported that three men exited a vehicle and fired shots towards a property in Barnby Dun Road.

"The men left the scene immediately afterwards.

“Armed response were deployed immediately and found evidence of a firearms discharge at the scene. Nobody was injured in the incident.

“Officers have recovered two vehicles in nearby in connection with the inquiry.

“There will be an increased number of officers in the area today as initial forensic and door-to-door enquiries are carried out. If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to an officer.”

It is understood that the vehicles were found in Stanhope Road, Wheatley – a short drive from the crime scene, opposite Sandall Park.

The shooting comes just days after another house in Wheatley was shot at.

On Sunday night, residents living near to a property in Winchester Road reported hearing a ‘volley of gunfire.’

Neighbours reported hearing up to 20 shots as windows at the house were shattered by bullets.

It is not clear if the two incidents are connected.
