A police hunt has been launched for a man seen behaving erratically and brandishing a machete in Doncaster.

The alarm was raised after the man was seen at Brodsworth Community Woodlands, off Long Lands Lane, Brodsworth, just before 1.45pm on Thursday, July 30.

South Yorkshire Police said the force received reports of ‘an unknown man ‘brandishing a machete’.

“He was reported by witnesses to have been behaving erratically, before walking further into the woodland,” the force said.

He was white, wore black clothing, a baseball cap and a face mask.PC Adam Wigley said: “Officers attended and carried out extensive area searches for the man but he had left the scene.“I would like to reassure residents that a full investigation is being carried out in relation to these reports. No one was injured or threatened during the incident.“Officers have been carrying out extra patrols in the area to offer reassurance to local residents.”
