Police chase intruder through Doncaster park as three arrested in early hours

Police chased one man and arrested two more when they fled into a Doncaster park after breaking into a house in the early hours.

The shocked occupier of a house in Wheatley woke in the early hours of the morning on January 11 to find the men inside his house, officers have revealed.

They ran away into nearby Sandall Park but were seen by police who had been called out to the scene and contained the area.

All three of the suspects were found within just over 30 minutes.

Doncaster neighbourhood inspector Mark Payling said: “One of the suspects was detained in the ensuing foot chase, a second was arrested after being found in a garden 20 minutes later and the third was arrested 15 minutes after that, when he was found hiding in a shed.”

He said that all three of the men had been released under investigation and enquiries were still ongoing.
