It will see a team of officers based in one of Doncaster’s largest villages.

For some weeks we have been drawing up the plans for the expanded neighbourhood policing that we are rolling out in Doncaster next year.

Plans had already been drawn up for neighbourhood teams in Edlington, Conisbrough and Rossington, as well as the existing central team, and the Doncaster west and east teams in Mexborough and Thorne respectively.

Now it has been decided that there will also be teams based in Armthorpe, and at Davis House, on Barnsley Road, Scawsby. In addition, the Doncaster Central team, based at College Road, will be expanded.

The team in Armthorpe will be put in place late this year, and will fill a gap in the area that we felt should be filled. It will be made up of a sergeant, six constables, and a number of PCSOs. They will also police areas like Kirk Sandall and Edenthorpe, but the building where they will be based has not yet been decided.

Officers from Davis House at Scawsby will be policing areas including Bentley and Adwick.

Our communities remain at the heart of everything we do, and going into 2020 this remains our priority.

We are going to continue to build on positive work from 2019.

We will continue tackling suspected organised crime groups and associated criminality. We have carried out numerous warrants and operations to disrupt these, particularly in and around Mexborough. This has led to jail for some of the most prolific offenders.

With four prisons in Doncaster we have seen success stopping the smuggling of items into jails.

We have made significant improvements in the town centre. Over the last year we have reduced issues around spice and begging, working alongside Doncaster Coucil’s complex lives programme to help vulnerable people and make the town centre a safer and more enjoyable place.

By knowing what’s bothering you, we and our partners can continue to improve the quality of life here in Doncaster.

Please know that you can trust and talk to us – we are here if you need us.
