Police appeal after sheep is shot dead in farmer's field in Doncaster

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the incident which took place earlier this week.

The dead sheep was found in a field at Hangman Stone Road, High Melton with a shotgun wound to its head.

The attack took place between the evening of May 16 and 10.30am on May 17.

A spokesman said: “The sheep was found next to the gate in the field in which it, and a number of others, were being kept.

“The sheep was found to have been shot in the head, it is not known at this time if the sheep died straightaway or died sometime later.”

South Yorkshire Police patrols are being conducted in the area. Anyone with any information regarding the incident should contact 101.
