Police and firefighters were attacked by a group of youths as they dealt with a suspected arson in Maltby.

An investigation is now underway following a suspected arson attack which took place at Maltby Miners Welfare on Wednesday, April 28.Police were called at 6pm that evening after receiving reports that the building was on fire.

While there, and dealing with the blaze, South Yorkshire Police and South Yorkshire fire crews had stones and bricks thrown at them by youths.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: “We are now working to identify those involved. If you have any information, CCTV footage or were driving through the area with dash cam at around this time last Wednesday, please get in touch.”The incident number is 703 of Wednesday, April 28. Anyone with any footage of the incident are asked to email it to [email protected] or can contact the team directly on [email protected].
