Sheffield Crown Court heard on September 15 how Shane Williamson, aged 41, had a dispute with a man at St Mary’s assisted living flats, off Pontefract Road, Lundwood, Barnsley, before they were seen continuing to argue in an Iceland store car park in July.

Susan Evans, prosecuting, said: “The defendant took a fork out of his pocket making stabbing motions to the male and they pushed and shoved each other.”

The defendant, who had been homeless and had been living at St Mary’s Apartments, told police he had the fork for a Pot Noodle.

Williamson, who has 24 previous convictions for 66 offences, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour after the incident on July 17.

He also admitted breaching a conditional discharge imposed in November, 2019, for two shop thefts.

Robert Sandford, defending, said the probation service stated Williamson who has been remanded in custody for over eight weeks may respond to support after years of drug abuse.

Recorder Keir Monteith QC told Williamson: “ You yourself have said you are tired and have had enough of coming in and out of court and you really do just want to settle down and let’s hope this is the time this happens because let’s be frank you are too old to keep coming back to court.”

Recorder Monteith sentenced Williamson to a 12-month community order with a six-month Drug Rehabilitation Requirement and a five-day Rehabilitation Activity Requirement.
