Nuisance Doncaster quad bike rider 'almost ran over' policeman in escape bid

Over the last few months, we've seen a lot of concerns over antisocial use of vehicles, writes Insp Adrian Luscombe.

But we have recently seen a number of successes in dealing with the problem.

It has not just been motorbikes, but also people driving cars antisocially around Doncaster West neighbourhood.

On August 12, we came across a quad bike in Conisbrough. The rider attempted to flee and almost ran over the officer, who managed to grab hold of it, physically stopping it.

But Edlington has seen a lot of this sort of activity too. Again, we have seen some successes there, and on August 28, a scooter was seized after being ridden in an antisocial manner.

On Carr Road, Edlington, we seized a car which had been driven antisocially on September 3. We had received reports of it being driving antisocially on farmers fields, and destroying crops.

And in August we had complaints of a car being driven antisocially around an estate in Highfields. Again, the car was seized. Drivers can cause great danger and impact on a community.

The last month has also seen a number of successes in dealing with organised crime by tackling drugs supply.

We saw a drug raid on Chapel Street, on August 14, which found cannabis being grown across four rooms in the house. There have been no arrests yet, but inquiries are still ongoing.

Another 11 plants were seized from a house on Maple Road, on August 17. A suspect was interviewed for cannabis production and has been reported on summons.

And when we were called to a suspicious incident at a house on Wath Road, on August 25, we also found a considerable cannabis cultivation set up.

Edlington has also seen drugs seized.

We were called out to a house on Victoria Road, after being told that a door appeared to be insecure. When we arrived, we found a significant cannabis set-up.

We found 46 plants being cultivated on Askern Road, Bentley, on August 18. We arrested one man, and he has been released on bail.

And five cannabis plants were found and a man cautioned after a formal search of a house on Skellow Road, Skellow.
