Nine drugs raids carried out simultaneously today in major operation in former Doncaster pit village

Nine properties were raided by police in a former Doncaster pit village this morning to deal with suspected organised crime.

Officers went into the properties with warrants because of concerns over drugs on the ‘Royal Estate’ at Edlington at around 8am.

The action involved officers and resources from across the South Yorkshire Police area to ensure all the raids could be done all simultaneously, it was revealed today after the police teams had finished the task.

Doncaster West neighbourhood policing team Insp Adrian Luscombe said: “We have had successful warrants on Stavely Street (three addresses), Victoria Road (two addresses) and Princes Crescent.

"In total in excess of 600 cannabis plants have been recovered, which would yield a street value of several hundred thousand pounds, so this is a really significant hit for organised criminality in the area. There has been one arrest so far, though the investigations are very much ongoing.”
