The new drone scam police are urging everyone in Doncaster needs to be aware of

Doncaster East NHP said there had been an upsurge in this ‘new method’ of sneak-in burglary.

A spokesperson for the unit said: “People have been reporting to have lost their drone in the garden and, while you’re distracted and helping to look for it, another person enters your property to steal.

“Please keep your doors and windows locked at all times, and do not answer your door to anyone you do not know.”

The thieves appear to be predominately targeting elderly residents in the town and have also pretended to be searching for a lost toy helicopter.

Police have not stated a precise location where they are investigating, however there have been unofficial reports of these burglaries in Armthorpe and Scawsby.

Anyone with information can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
