A man has been jailed for 20 years following a terrifying attack on a family in Adwick in 2018.

Danny Green, aged 32, of Acacia Avenue, Bramley, Rotherham, was found guilty of aggravated burglary, kidnap, false imprisonment, Grevious Bodily Harm and theft at Sheffield Crown Court on Tuesday following a week-long trial.He was also found guilty of an additional charge of assault following an incident on 28 March 2020.The court heard that at 1.30am on Tuesday 11 September 2018 four men wearing balaclavas broke into a property on Mill Lane, Adwick armed with a shotgun.

The men assaulted two of the occupants, with one suffering facial fractures and another suffering broken ribs.One of the victims was then tied up and forced into a vehicle while the rest of the family were held at gunpoint in the kitchen and threatened with a shotgun and knife as the men made demands for money.The victim who had been forced into a vehicle was driven to a business he owns, where he handed over £12,000 from the safe.The men returned the victim home before fleeing in three vehicles owned by the family.

A Proceeds of Crime Application has been made to claim £6,000 recovered from Green’s address.Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Lee Szedzielarz, said: “This was a terrifying and traumatic incident for the victims involved in this case.“As well as being threatened at gunpoint in their own home, one of the victims was then kidnapped, leaving the rest of his family in fear of what may have happened to him.“I would also like to thank the victims for the strength and determination.”
