A homeless man who was attacked in a Doncaster shop doorway remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

Police confirmed 52-year-old victim Karl Notley is still fighting for life in hospital following the attack outside the British Heart Foundation shop in Printing Office Street on Wednesday.

A man has appeared in court and two others have been arrested and bailed in connection with the incident.

He was refused bail and was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Sheffield Crown Court on September 8.

The two other men, aged 30 and 32, were arrested yesterday on suspicion of assisting an offender and have been bailed pending further enquiries
