Granddad and granddaughter 'hurt in collision with quad bikes' in Doncaster

The incident was raised with officers at an online police community engagement meeting this week.
One resident asked last night: “What are you going to do about the youths on quads seen today on several occasions in different villages in Doncaster, having struck a man and his granddaughter in Askern earlier today?

Hide AdAnother told officers a man and his granddaughter had been ‘run over’ in Askern by quad bike, and stated that they had ‘driven off laughing’.
In response, Inspector Alison Carr and Sergeant Mike Miles, who were responding the comments as Doncaster East NHP, stated: “The incident today is being investigated currently, and I cannot furnish any further details understandably. We are proactively on the look out for those responsible and task our off road bike team daily across the force.”
A statement from South Yorkshire Police today added: “Enquiries are on-going into a collision between two pedestrians and an off-road bike following an incident on May 5 at Selby Road in Askern, Doncaster.“It is reported that while a family were out walking they were deliberately driven at by a rider on a quad bike.“A 67-year-old man and a four-year-old girl both suffered minor injuries.“This morning (6 May) warrants were conducted in Highfields and Adwick and two quad bikes believed to be involved in the incident have been seized.“Work is on-going to locate the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 327 of 5 May 2020.”
It was one of a number of concerns raised over quad bikes, and nuisance motorcycles.

Hide AdAnother taking part part in the session asked if anything could be done about ‘all of the idiots on quads racing around Rossington causing a nuisance to people and other road users?’
Another asked if there would be action taken against people riding mopeds unnecessarily on Shaw Wood field in Armthorpe.
The officers said: “As always, if we catch them we'll take their bike and report them for summons in the right circumstances.”
