A golfer has been praised for his ‘tee-rific’ help with an immigration offence in Doncaster.

South Yorkshire Police said the golfer intervened when he saw a man trying to run off after being pulled over in a car near Doncaster Golf Club, Bawtry Road.

South Yorkshire Police said: “We have arrested a man for immigration offences with help from a golfer.

“Officers pulled over a car on Bawtry Road, and the driver got out and tried to run away.

“Seeing what was happening, the man intervened and managed to grab hold of him.

“Tee-rific work all round.”

The suspect is set to be interviewed by immigration officials.

Last week an illegal immigrant was arrested in Rotherham after being pulled over on Centenary Way in a BMW and being unable to account for £6,000 he was carrying.
