Four arrested over suspected Doncaster hit and run which killed Doncaster father-of-two

Four people have been arrested in connection with a suspected hit and run in Doncaster in which a father of two died.

Three men and a woman have been arrested in connection with the fatal collision on High Road, Warmsworth on Friday night.

The victim has been named locally as Jamie Cantrill, a 29-year-old dad of two.

Emergency services were called to the A630 High Road, between the junction of Tenter Road and the Holiday Inn at 11.49pm on Friday following reports a man was lying injured in the carriageway.

Four arrests have been made.

Sadly, a 29-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His family are being supported by specialist officers.

It is believed that the man’s injuries were caused by a collision with a car. The car did not stay at the scene.

Yesterday, a 29 year-old man from Doncaster was arrested on causing death by dangerous driving. He currently remains in police custody.

A 47-year-old man from Doncaster was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice and has been released under investigation.

A 23-year-old man from Doncaster was arrested for causing death by dangerous driving.

A 21-year-old woman from Denaby Main was arrested for assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice. She has been released under investigation.

Earlier today it was reported that Mr Cantrill leaves behind a partner and two children, including a five-month-old baby.

Relatives of the 29-year-old have expressed their sadness on Facebook and Bayer Leopardkusen – a football team of which Mr Cantrill was formerly a player – also paid tribute to the father-of-two.

On Twitter, it said: “This morning we received the devastating news that one of our former players Jamie Cantrill, passed away after being in a road traffic accident. His cousin Ashley still plays for us and several of our players and officials still kept in touch with Jamie who was a great lad.

“We would like to thank @_RosehillFC for their understanding in cancelling tomorrows game as our players are truly shocked and devastated at losing such a popular player. We send all of our condolences to his family and many friends.

“We are already sorting out a night in January to raise funds for his family to include various ex footballers and entertainers. We will put details on here as soon as we have got it arranged. Our love and prayers are with all the Cantrill family at this terrible time.”
