These are the first pictures from the scene of a mass brawl in Doncaster town centre which saw fighting between a gang of 50 people.

Police were called to East Laith Gate at around 8pm last night after reports of a fight outside Shabir’s restaurant.

According to eyewitnesses, men, women and children were all caught up in the violence which spilled over from the pavement and into the road.

A number of police cars raced to the scene to deal with the disorder.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Officers were called to East Laith Gate in Doncaster yesterday evening to reports of a fight.

“A 41-year-old man from Doncaster was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault.

“An 18-year-old Rotherham man suffered minor facial injuries during the incident.”

A Section 47 Assault is when actual bodily harm has been caused.
