Officers from South Yorkshire Police and prison staff recovered the illicit items, including drugs, during a search of HMP Lindholme yesterday.

Detective Inspector Steve Smith, who heads up South Yorkshire Police’s ‘Operation Fortify’ team, which tackles organised criminality, said: “We will continue to work robustly with our colleagues within the prison service to stop items such as those pictured from getting inside prisons across Doncaster.

“Items such as this can cause violence and lead to serious harm or disorder. We’re working hard to protect prison staff and ensure everyone is kept safe.

“My advice to anyone thinking about bringing or throwing items into one of our prisons is simple – don’t do it, because our officers will be there, they will identify you and you could end up in prison yourself.”
