Residents say a number of cars were damaged during the pursuit that happened earlier this evening, which ended up on Evelyn Avenue, Intake, with a number of police cars on the scene.

It involved the pursuit of a silver van, which residents said had been chased all over Intake before officers brought it to a halt.

She said: “They used it (the police car) to crash into it and stop it. In the meantime my neighbours car was crashed into and their wall is down.

“One officer has a broken arm from the information I got.”

Another resident described hearing sirens going off on the estate as the incident was unfolding.

There were five police cars at the scene of the incident, and residents believe police had taken a suspect from the scene.
