Shamus O’Brien appeared before Doncaster Magistrates’ Court on September 25, where he admitted leaving the scene of an accident, driving while under the influence of benzoylecgonine - a cocaine compound - driving without insurance and driving without due care and attention.

Records show that O’Brien, of Kenneth Avenue, Stainforth, Doncaster, was involved in the accident in High Street, Hatfield, on January 7 this year, causing injury to a member of the public.

The 26-year-old was later stopped by police in his Ford Transit tipper truck in Cuckoo Lane, Hatfield, where he failed a drugs test, records show.

O’Brien was given a 12-month community order to include an eight-week electrically-monitored curfew and must also complete 20 rehabilitation activity days with the Probation Service.

He was also ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £90 victim surcharge.
