Bus services to be diverted after vehicles subjected to vandalism

Bus services in a South Yorkshire town are to be diverted after coming under sustained vandal attacks.

Stagecoach has announced that its services will be diverted after 6pm in Swinton until March 15 after a number of incidents in recent days.

A spokesman said: “We’re sorry to say that services 218, 218A, 220, 221 and 208 will not serve parts of Swinton after 6pm from 10 March until 15 March due to vandalism in this area.”

Across the weekend, the firm cancelled buses in the area after vandal attacks.

Each evening from 6pm buses will take the following route though Swinton:

Milton Street, Fitzwilliam Street and Lime Grove in both directions.

This diversion only affects evening buses and normal routes will run throughout the day.

A Stagecoach spokesman added: “We are working closely with the police and hope to return to normal service as soon as safely possible.”
