Community Champions will be recognised at council awards ceremony

North Lincolnshire Council’s inspiring Community Champion Awards ceremony is taking place on Thursday November 27 at The Baths Hall and this year’s finalists have been announced.

The Community Champion Awards are now in their third year. A fantastic 120 nominations were received for the 22 award categories this year. These have been shortlisted to 45 people or organisations that are now in the running to be crowned the winners.

The awards recognise people for their dedication to volunteering, overcoming barriers and excelling in sport or the arts. As well as community groups that deserve recognition for their work in the community or individuals that inspire others.

The awards are split into four categories: Volunteer, Achievement, Community and Inspiration.

Well known radio presenter Blair Jacobs will host the evening and announce the awards.

There will be plenty of entertainment including North Lincolnshire Youth Swing Band, St Cecilia’s Singers and Lindsey Chamber Orchestra.

Councillor John Briggs, deputy leader at North Lincolnshire Council, said: “The North Lincolnshire Community Champion Awards provide a fantastic opportunity to really showcase our many talented and deserving people who have done and in many cases continue to do something special.

“It was very difficult to reduce the nominations to 45. Each and every one of them deserves recognition for the fantastic work they do. They are all winners in our eyes, which why it made the judges job so hard.

“I am looking forward to the Awards ceremony. It will be an extremely special occasion. It is always wonderful to hear about how people and organisations make a real difference in North Lincolnshire. They are truly inspirational.”
