Inspectors stated that the management and staff provide learners with ‘high quality education’ and gives an overall rating of ‘Good’.

The specialist college, part of Doncaster Deaf Trust, welcomes students from across the country who are Deaf, hard of hearing or have communication difficulties including those on the autistic spectrum.

Assistant principal, at Communication Specialist College Doncaster, Rebecca Loosemore, said the report highlighted the college’s inclusiveness and added: “We are really pleased with our latest Ofsted report and welcome the comments from the inspectors who recognise that learners at the college make good progress and achieve their personal and social targets and their vocational qualifications.”

The report states that staff use learners’ communication and behaviour plans well, which helps learners to develop effective skills to manage their behaviour. Learners show high levels of respect to peers, staff and visitors.

Assistant principal at Communication Specialist College Doncaster, Stacey Betts, said: “This is a great report and one which we are all very proud of.

“The inspectors acknowledge the role the staff play in ensuring that learners participate in a broad range of enterprise initiatives that benefit the local community and highlight activities including the renovation of an old camper van that is used as a mobile cafe in a garden centre, charitable and voluntary work with food banks, and supporting arrangements for the Tour de Yorkshire cycle race.”
